FAQs

Are you a licensed agency?

Yes, we are licensed under the Employment Standard Branch. Our Agency License number is #BA-2023-095265. We are also licensed under the Saanich Municipality.

My child is 12 years old, do I have to update her/his/their headshot before we apply?

You will not need a professional headshot to apply, however, we will need a headshot for their online portfolio. With children we recommended that they update their headshot on an annual basis, as they can change a lot in one year.

Will I need resume and/or a professional headshot? Can I just take a selfie?

Headshots are your introduction to casting directors, producers, directors, and marketing agencies. It is important that we put your best face forward. We will accept headshots or great quality photos. We can connect you with several experienced photographers.

What happens after I submit my application?

Both talent agents/partners review all applications. We will contact only those that we are interested in representing, with an invite for an online interview to learn more about you (i.e. experience in the industry, training, aspirations, etc). We will then make our final decision and inform you of the next steps

Do I have to sign a contract?

Yes, everyone will have to sign a contract and a Standards of Conduct. For children under 19 years old, a parent or legal guardian will have to sign it on the child’s behalf.

How much does it cost to join the agency?

We do not charge anyone for representation. Talent Agencies can only charge commission based on the earnings from jobs we book for the talent.

Do I have to be a minority to join the Agency?

No, we are an inclusive agency that will give equal opportunities to all.

Are you accepting applications for children?

Yes, we are accepting applications for children as well. We are a licensed agency and we abide by the Code of Conduct for Working with Child Performers.

Are you only accepting unrepresented talent?

If you are currently represented by another agency, you will have to rescind that contract prior to signing up with our agency.

I have an agent already but would like to stay with my agent and sign-up with your agency. Can I?

No. We are an exclusive agency. Only for our International models we will have an agreement for them to sign-up with another agency. However, we continue to be the Mother Agency.

I have submitted my application, and we had the interview. How long will it take until my portfolio is on your website?

The process can take up to two weeks as at this time we are receiving a lot of applications. We have to review all the information you will upload on our talent management platform and follow-up with any questions. We will also have to approve the pictures that you will upload.

After I signed the contract and my portfolio is on the website, what is next?

We will have an initial online orientation to give you an opportunity to ask questions. We will then start to work with our clients (casting directors, production and marketing companies, etc) to submit you for roles and jobs. Our clients will have specific access, depending on their roles, to the information that they need to know about you.

What is your selection criteria?

We will select the candidates based on many factors: experience, training, presence, aspirations, and how they fit with the agency values and mission.

What do you consider a person with diverse talent?

Any skill or talent that you think is unique, or any skill that you are extremely good at, or at an advanced level. For example if you have trained many years in one skill or sport (i.e. Horseback Riding, or as a Figure Skater). We just never know what a production/director will be looking for. Also, we are changing the language from disabilities to diverse abilities. Persons that use a wheelchair, that are visually impaired, hard of hearing are considered diverse abilities.

I don’t have any experience in the industry, can I still apply?

Those who have never worked as actors will be considered for background (extras) and commercials work. For those who have never worked on set, we will provide an orientation session and offer ongoing online workshops to prepare you to succeed on your first day.

If you want to be considered as a Principal actor, you will have to to have acting training, experience, or demo reel (if available), and you will have to show that you can be considered for a speaking role.

To be considered for Voice Over (VO) you will need a VO demo, and have to have a proper mic.

For models, we will train you for the runway and fashion show jobs, however, you will have to build a model portfolio

I have tried to connect with the Jeany and Melissa via their personal social media, but I have not heard back from them.

We would like to keep our personal lives separated from the agency. Both Jeany and Melissa are very personable and approachable, and they will be happy to connect with you via the @deitalent Instagram and Facebook, or email contact@deitalent.ca
